    • According to the 1871 Census of Perth Co. (30/D/2), Christen had twomilch cows, two sheep and two swine. He killed or sold two swine forslaughter or export, made 30 pounds of butter and 40 pounds of home-madecheese. Christian owned his property at range or concession one, loteight. He occupied 2 1/2 acres of which 2 1/2 were improved and 1/2 wasin pasture. In the previous year he produced 20 bushels of turnips andone acre (3 bundles of 16 lbs) of hay.
