Bill Bushlen
La Grande
1916-2001
William Charles "Bill" Bushlen of La Grande died at a local care center Nov. 24, one day before his 85th birthday.
A private family service will be held later. Loveland Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
He was born Nov. 25, 1916, to Fredric and Grace Proctor Bushlen in Vesper, Wis. On May 5, 1944, he married Cathryn Russell.
He was a World War II veteran.
Before he lost his sight, he was an artist, and he was an avid fisherman on the Deschutes River.
He is survived by four sons, Bill of La Grande, Tom of Olympia, Wash., Kermit of Portland, and Art of Helena, Mont.; two daughters, Susie Gross of Milwaukie and Cyndi Petersen of Oregon City; a brother, Kenneth Bushlen of Vesper; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
His wife died in 1974.
